HideAway VPN - Tips and Tricks
The traffic monitor screen is helpful in creating custom filters as it will show all the traffic on your PC, so you can identify the app process, and any port, IP address and domain used.
When you create a custom rule, you'll be able to view the traffic on the traffic monitor screen for that rule, and adjust as needed.
Since the traffic updates through the traffic monitor screen can move quickly, you can also pin favorites to the top of the screen for reference later.
Each filter, including preset filters has a copy icon next to it. This is useful if you wish to make a change to a preset filter.
Preset filters are not able to be edited, but they can be copied, and you can edit the new copied filter and add your own entries to it.
To make it easy to find filters in HideAway, you can add tags to the description field, such as #chrome #email or anything else.
Occasionally you may find a website you visit is blocked to the VPN, this happens occasionally as some websites don't like VPNs accessing their websites.
You can ALLOW the website by creating a custom rule so that HideAway will ignore sending traffic through it. This does mean that you'll be visiting that website without the protection of HideAway.
